Okay
um
well hi how is everybody
. . .
I guess I'll do my yearly journal thing
Since I now are gradeeated, I suddenly have lots of free time, but I don't have a job - I'd like to have a job, but I can't, my parents need me at home doing stuff. Hrrm...
"Well what about college," you'll ask
COLLEGE WHAT COLLEGE
Being one of the laziest people on earth I can assure you I have not thought about college, or trade school, or whatever kids do nowadays.
But I don't know what I want to do.
That's all that's holding me back.
I like drawing. Well, pfft, duh, everyone on here's got something artsy they want to do, but
that's the thing, I know people that are better artists than me. They're serious about their stuff, they're really good, they've got the best tools, and some of them even have jobs, careers pertaining to their skills. But me, I don't even have a decent digital painting program, nor can I really use any traditional medium other than a pencil. I've never tried the others (but I might get into charcoals and paint one day...).
But I see it as more of a hobby.
And that's where the problem comes in.
All my life I have been drawing. That is the only skill I focused on. "I'll get a job as an artist," I thought to myself.
Well, everybody wants a job as an artist, for their skill and style to be desired by clientele.
But my skills are just sub-par. They need a lot of work. How to put more life into my drawings, how to draw non-human things, learning about proper design and perspective...
Where do I go to learn these things? To better myself?
Now that I've realized my skills aren't all that great, I've realized something else, too
I have no other skills to fall back on!
I can't cook, I suck at math, I'm halfway decent with literature and science, I'm not good with people, I never took sports, I know nothing about medicine or politics...without drawing I'm nothing!
I
was interested in either economics or tailoring/costume design, but I don't even know how to sew. And economics was more of a general interest.
Perhaps my best bet is to make my art skillz madder, but where do I start?
I've
got to get a decent art program. Photoshop may be the beginner's block but
gosh it's expensive. I don't even know which one to
get, there's so many versions.
Just what is graphic design? For some reason I keep thinking it means "how to design a brochure". I don't know.
As much as I want to learn how to decently paint, I'd like to keep it on a more personal level. No classes! I don't want to paint realistically. I just like the way it colors. I'd use it with line drawings.
I wondered about majoring in Illustration. Seems pretty basic. I learn how to make lots of pretty pictures and create an enticing portfolio for those interested. Sounds good.
Would a design course help me create professional-looking art? With color blocks and stuff? I don't know, but I could try.
And where would I take these classes? I think I'll have to move again...
But in the end, I guess I just have to review the facts (like Septimus Heap!):
• I want to make something with my hands (arting, woodworking, sewing, clay-making, etc.)
• I'm a fresh face! I can learn new tricks! \O3O/
• I have a bunch of stories in my head I want to tell the world about! I'm a storyteller at heart... -u-
• I like to draw. OuO

Either way, I've been shut out from the Internet world for a while. I can't draw on my tablet computer because the motherboard's been fried for a year now and I've been too lazy to go find out what was wrong with it. So now I need a new computer. I have my eyes set on one, but it may be a while before a get it.
I feel bad because I haven't worked on any requests for a while. Half-finished requests will have to be fished out from the old hard drive once a new computer comes in. Arting in general has been on hold. Although I've been getting back into the groove of drawing on paper, it's really just little doodles I can't do anything with. They just sit there. Sigh.
I was really getting into tumblr for a while but then it just got very overwhelming. Kinda like deviantArt...
But now I'm trying to remember to load a new photo every few days! There's a bunch laying around I can upload. Maybe I'll start a tumblog based on photography. I was also thinking of making a Fine Art America account for photography, to see if anything of mine would actually sell. OuO How exciting!
Eurgh, big rant. Sorry about that. ^^"
